Since the eyes and face are such delicate areas, the surgeries described below are best performed by an oculoplastic surgeon certified by the American Society of Ophthalmic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). Our surgeons are extremely well trained and knowledgeable about the anatomy of the eye area. They take a conservative approach that provides rejuvenation with a natural result while always keeping their number-one priority on the forefront: protecting the eyes and maintaining function of the eyelid.

What Conditions Benefit from Cosmetic Surgery?
We treat the following issues surgically:

  • Aging of the face and neck
  • “Bags” beneath the eyes
  • Congenital abnormalities of the eyelids
  • Disfigurements from injuries
  • Droopy eyebrows
  • Droopy eyelids
  • Excess upper eyelid skin

Tests

Consultation - Each patient receives a thorough evaluation to discuss medical and family history, health and their reasons for wanting cosmetic surgery. Our surgeons evaluate the patient’s facial features and discuss treatment options, risks and post-surgical recovery.

Blood Tests - To ensure safety, your doctor may request bloodwork before surgery to see if you have any infections or blood disorders and to see how well kidneys and liver are functioning.

Treatments

Blepharoplasty - An upper blepharoplasty surgically removes excess skin, fat, and muscle through well-hidden incisions in the natural crease of the eyelid. A lower blepharoplasty removes fat and skin that contributes to “bags” beneath the eyes. Both upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasties restore a more youthful appearance with a quick outpatient procedure done under local anesthesia. Depending on your condition, your surgeon may use a laser, cautery instrument, or blade to perform this procedure. Some patients also undergo laser skin resurfacing of the lower eyelids to further tighten the skin and enhance their appearance.

Brow Lifts - As we age, the forehead and brows begin to descend and push excess skin onto the eyelids. A brow lift or forehead lift can be performed in many different ways, depending on each patient’s anatomy. This procedure provides a more youthful appearance and opens up the eye area to give patients a refreshed look. Brow and forehead lifts are outpatient procedures performed under local or general anesthesia.

Ptosis Repair - Droopy eyelids can interfere with vision, causing a functional problem, but they can also create an aesthetic issue for patients, making them appear tired. There are different approaches to raising someone’s eyelids, both through the skin and through the undersurface of the eyelid. Both are quick, outpatient procedures done under local anesthesia, with or without minimal sedation.

Face and Neck LiftsAs we age, the facial and neck tissues descend, reversing the heart shaped youthful face into more of a triangle.  Face and neck lifts can help restore the youthful shape of a face and can be combined with volume augmentation using fat.  These surgeries are outpatient and are most commonly performed under general anesthesia.

Eyelid and Facial Reconstruction - Eyelid and facial defects can be congenital or caused by trauma or tumors. Whatever the cause, our experienced surgeons do their best to restore the normal anatomy, function, and aesthetic of the face, using a team approach if necessary.
