Primary care sports medicine physicians specialize in the non-operative treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. Orthopaedic surgeons, on the other hand, are also trained in the operative treatment of these conditions. Our sports medicine team has both primary care sports medicine physicians and orthopaedic surgeons.

You or your physical therapist may request a renewal to your physical therapy prescription by emailing us at uhealthsportsmedicine@med.miami.edu or by calling 305-689-5555, Option 2.

Bring your health insurance card, a photo ID, and any previous images or medical records pertaining to your present issue. If you have previous MRIs, X-rays, etc., bring the actual CD or hard copy films to the appointment, not just the radiology report. If you want to complete your new patient forms in advance, view and print them here to bring with you: English or Spanish.

A representative from surgical scheduling will call you after 3 p.m. the day before your scheduled surgery date to notify you of when you need to arrive. If your surgery is on a Monday, they will call on the Friday prior.

Your physician will discuss important pre-op information with you and we will email you a copy of the important requirements prior to your surgical appointment.

Your post-operative instructions will be provided to you during discharge, and will include any prescriptions and physical therapy requirements.
