Course Description
This course focuses on the practical aspects of implementing virtual eyecare services, in a post-pandemic context.
A panel of experts will discuss the opportunities, challenges, and barriers to virtual eyecare, as well as what is the current state of ocular telehealth technologies, and the best practices for the provision of high-quality eye care to all.
At the end of the session, the participants will be able to design a checklist with the 5 basic steps required for implementing virtual eyecare services in this new context.

The main topics covered will include:
1. Introduction: Teleophthalmology, where are we now?
2. What are the current challenges?
3. What strategies can we use to mitigate the challenges?
4. Leveraging off disruptive technologies
5. New delivery modalities for eye care
6. Reaching out to those the need us the most
7. New paradigms in medical education: the metaverse beyond the new normal
