Summary

Our lab focuses on understanding the early cellular and molecular events underlying glaucoma. At a basic science level, we are studying retinal ganglion cells (RGC) synapse loss in early disease. At a clinical level, we focus on novel applications of optical coherence tomography (OCT) to improve detection and track progression of glaucoma. Current Research

Clinical Research

  • Optical coherence tomography (OCT) of the optic nerve head and macula for detection and progression analysis of glaucoma
  • Role of the vitreoretinal interface in glaucomatous damage
  • Glaucomatous changes in advanced Age-related macular degeneration (AMD)

Basic Science Research

  • Development of the optic nerve head
  • Neuroprotection of retinal ganglion cells
  • Role of the immune complement cascade in early glaucomatous damage
  • Regulation of intraocular pressure
