Cancers of the endocrine system include those of the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands. While there are many different subtypes of these cancers, they generally have a good prognosis with the 5-year survival of thyroid cancer being 98%.
After treatment for endocrine cancers, it is important to continue to follow-up with your physician and proceed with any recommended imaging studies for continued monitoring.
If removal of these glands was performed, you may be asked to take medications to replace some of the hormones normally produced by these organs. It is important to check in regularly with your physicians to monitor the levels of these medications, so adjustments can be made to your dosages if needed.
The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center has the medical, surgical, radiologic, and laboratory services you need in order to guide you through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery of your endocrine cancer!
