The goal of Sylvester’s Cancer Prevention and Wellness clinic is to provide high quality, patient-centered care to firefighters and other occupational groups at increased risk of cancer. The clinic builds on Sylvester's ongoing work with firefighters across Florida over the past four years as part of the Firefighter Cancer Initiative (FCI), which aims to understand and address the excess cancer burden among firefighters. Clinic visits are covered by most insurance carriers. Appointments will focus on prevention and early detection of cancer endorsed by NFPA 1582 standards.
Our dedicated medical staff has been uniquely trained to address the needs of active and retired firefighters. Appointments are available at our Downtown, Coral Gables, and Plantation locations and tailored to individual needs. Screenings will include, though not be limited to, breast, cervical, colorectal, esophageal, lung, prostate, thyroid, and skin cancers. Our medical staff will also inform patients of opportunities to participate in firefighter cancer-related research.
