Plastic surgeons at University of Miami Health System offer endoscopic plastic surgery, which allows us to achieve optimal results with less downtime and less scarring. Endoscopy is a surgical technique in which a surgeon uses an endoscope — a thin, flexible tube with a camera on one end — that enables them to see internal images of the body using very small incisions.

Who is a Candidate?

You may be a candidate for endoscopic plastic surgery if you don’t have a large amount of loose (extra) skin. Speak with your surgeon for more information.

What to Expect

You will likely be under general (fully asleep) anesthesia for your endoscopic plastic surgery procedure. Your surgeon begins by making a small incision and then inserting the endoscope. During surgery, the surgeon uses a specially designed display screen to view inside your body and perform the surgery. After surgery is complete, the endoscope is removed and the incision is stitched closed. Your recovery period and downtime will vary based on the specific procedure you have undergone, and your care team will provide you with specific instructions before you leave our facility.
