Important Update: UHealth and Preferred Care Network Termination Extension
UnitedHealthcare has notified UHealth that it intends to terminate its Preferred Care Network (PCN) contract. Both parties have agreed to extend that current contract through December 31, 2026. The contract will now terminate January 1, 2027 (previously September 1, 2026).
We are informing members of this change now so they can make an informed decision regarding their health care needs over the next several months. Our priority is protecting our patients by doing everything we can to ensure they continue receiving the high-quality care they rely on.
Who this impacts: Patients enrolled in the Preferred Care Network Medicare Advantage plan who receive care at UHealth’s Hospital, outpatient facilities, or with UHealth physicians.
What you should know: At this time, there are no changes to patient care, scheduling, or operations. Please continue to keep your scheduled appointments.
Please note: This termination is a separate matter from our renegotiated agreement for the UnitedHealthcare Commercial, Medicaid, and International plans.
What This Means For You Right Now
- Nothing changes today: Keep your upcoming appointments and continue to schedule new ones.
- Emergency Care: You will always have access to emergency care at UHealth, regardless of your insurance network status.
- Continuity of Care: If you are pregnant or receiving ongoing treatment for a serious illness, you can apply to keep seeing us during your treatment. Please understand that UHealth does not decide who gets approved. UnitedHealthcare is the only one who reviews these applications, and UnitedHealthcare has the final say on whether you qualify or not.
What You Can Do
You can take action to help keep UHealth in your network:
- During open enrollment this fall (October 15 to December 7), review your options carefully. Select a plan that includes UHealth in-network.
