Grant Writing Support

The Office of Education and Training (OET) at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center supports the application and management of cancer-focused training grants in several ways. We offer grant workshops, resources and support for the application process. We also offer post-award management for selected training grants.

OET held annual grant writing workshops for fellowship (F) applications and mentored career development (K) awards. The two-day workshops cover funding opportunities, what really matters in the review process, fundamentals of successful grant writing, specific aims, the approach section, selling yourself, how to help your mentor/sponsor design a compelling training program for you, and other topics. Workshops were also held specifically for mentors. Videos and workbooks from these activities are available through the University of Miami’s Blackboard course management system:

The University of Miami Writing Center

The University of Miami Writing Center can provide specialized assistance with your grant application or other academic writing projects. An experienced consultant will meet with you one-on-one to provide the specific writing help you need, ranging from sentence-level and language concerns to assistance with clarity of content and readability. Miami Clinical and Translational Science Institute

The Miami CTSI offers several opportunities to assist and mentor investigators through key stages of the grant writing process, including full grant review in partnership with Hanover, individual consultations, videos from grant writing workshops focused on NIH R grants, and a semester-long grant writing course.
