An arteriovenous (AV) graft is a tube your surgeon places in your arm that connects an artery to a vein. The graft is where needles are placed for hemodialysis (use of a special machine and filter to clean your blood). Sometimes, blood flow can slow within the graft — usually due to narrowing or clogging.
The interventional radiology experts at the University of Miami Health System use an AV graft declot procedure to restore normal blood flow through the AV graft.
