Pediatric developmental-behavioral specialists evaluate, counsel, and provide treatment for children and adolescents with developmental and behavioral difficulties, such as intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Developmental and behavioral conditions can impact your child’s ability to achieve in school, relate to others, and affect other aspects of everyday life.

Our team is part of an academic health center, which means we have access to the latest treatment options, more quickly, because our doctors are involved in research. Our doctors participate in clinical trials and other research studies to find new therapies and techniques for children. You benefit by working with a team that’s on the leading edge of children’s developmental and behavioral care.

Our doctors are board-certified in both pediatrics and developmental-behavioral pediatrics, meaning that we have expertise in both general children’s health care and have received specialized training in conditions related to development and behavior. University of Miami Health System is the only academic health center in South Florida with developmental-behavioral pediatric specialists on staff.

We work with psychologists, behavioral health counselors, and other specialists within our health system to give your child comprehensive care and personalized attention. We help coordinate your child’s care and make sure you’re involved every step of the way — including emotional support for your family.
