Managing opiate abuse as a chronic health condition.
If you are looking for treatment for opiate use, UHealth — the University of Miami Health System is here to help. The UHealth Office Based Addiction Treatment (OBAT) team is made up of dedicated medical professionals who specialize in the treatment of opiate use disorders. In OBAT, we manage opiate use disorders the same way other chronic health conditions are managed in primary care: with confidential medication-assisted treatment, counseling, appointments with specialty providers and linkage to other vital health and social service resources.
Our caring experts provide confidential services including:
- Evaluation of opiate use disorders
- Patient-centered care
- Overdose education and training and naloxone (Narcan)
- Medication-assisted treatment for addiction using Buprenorphine for individuals who have had an opiate use disorder with opiates, heroin, fentanyl or carfentanyl
What to expect from the treatment team.
As a patient in the UHealth OBAT Program you can expect to be treated with compassion, respect, honesty and dignity. You can also expect to receive education about opiate use disorders as chronic health conditions and to receive the support needed to be successful in managing your health condition. Your OBAT team will work with you and your primary care team to make sure that all of your medical and mental health needs are met.
