Additional Information

Voice has been described as the sound of the soul. Everyone deserves to have the voice that best presents their true self to the world.

The Voice and Communication Affirmation Program at UHealth provides voice and communication evaluations and treatment. We are dedicated to helping people develop the voice that best suits them.

Vocal evaluation includes analysis of your:

  • Self-goals (wants and needs)
  • Voice-related quality of life
  • Readiness and motivation
  • Pitch and range
  • Vocal quality
  • Speech and language
  • Non-verbal communication
  • Visualization of vocal folds (for those considering surgery or those with hoarseness)

Vocal training or vocal therapy includes the exploration of:

  • Pitch range
  • Resonance
  • Breath coordination
  • Intonation
  • Volume
  • Articulation
  • Vocal hygiene
  • Non-verbal communication
  • Word choice

Do I need surgery?

For those of you who have explored communication training and feel that your pitch is too low, pitch feminization surgery is offered.

Pitch feminization surgery fuses the front part of the vocal folds together in an attempt to limit low pitch range and increase average speaking pitch.
