Research Focus

The Kumar lab studies gastrointestinal (GI) cancer epidemiology and risk factor mitigation. We are interested on the screening, early detection, and early endoscopic management of GI cancers, the identification and management of risk factors for GI cancers, and mitigating cancer disparities. Our lab primarily studies gastric and colon cancer, though we have also conducted impactful work in pancreatic, neuroendocrine, and esophageal cancers.
