IN-PERSON CARE

We have adapted our guidelines during the current pandemic to minimize risk for our patients and employees. If you choose or require in-person care, we want you to be prepared for the changes you will encounter.

VISITOR POLICY

Visitors are not allowed in our facilities; pediatric patients may be accompanied by one adult. Our team members will greet you at the front entrance and assist you to your appointment location. We are committed to caring for you and will do everything we can to make your visit as safe and convenient as possible.

Visitors may wait in parked cars near our facilities. At our Miami location, there is an outdoor sitting area to the right (west) of the building.

SCREENING
We conduct COVID-19 screening to all persons prior to entering our facilities. The screening includes questions about your potential exposure to COVID-19 and current symptoms, and it may include a temperature reading. Anyone suspected of having or of having been exposed to COVID-19 is quickly moved to an isolated area and cared for in a dedicated space.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT and HAND SANITIZER
We will provide you with a mask when you arrive. Please remember to have your mask cover your nose and mouth at all times, and do not remove it unless requested by your provider. Children under two years of age should not wear a mask.

We ask everyone who enters our facilities use hand sanitizer. Additional hand sanitizers dispensers are located throughout our facilities for use during your visit.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
We have rearranged our seating to maintain physical distancing. Our housekeeping staff continually cleans and disinfects touch surfaces, elevators, and restrooms.

PRE-PROCEDURE TESTING
Patients scheduled for major and minor surgery will be tested for COVID-19 prior to that appointment. You will be given instructions and pertinent information.

VALET SERVICE HAS BEEN PAUSED
For everyone’s safety, we have paused valet service at our facilities. Our staff are available to help patients get into or out of their cars, or to help patients with their walkers and/or wheelchairs. Drivers will be directed to self-park at the nearest parking lot or garage.

We look forward to caring for you and seeing you soon.

VIRTUAL VISITS

We have adapted our offerings so many of your eye care appointments can be done virtually (video or telephone), or through a combination of in-person testing and virtual discussions with your doctor which we call Hybrid Visits.

A standard virtual visit is a scheduled appointment with your provider using your smartphone, tablet or computer on a secure telehealth platform through University of Miami Health System’s MyUHealthChart.com. If you do not have an internet connection, you can still receive virtual care using a telephone.

New patient, follow-up, and post-operative visits can be conducted via virtual care, although we may need to see you in person depending on your condition.

Before your virtual visits, we will ensure you have everything you need for an easy, convenient experience and will walk you through every step of the process. We welcome your family member or friend to participate in your virtual visit.

HYBRID VISITS
Hybrid Visits combine in-person and virtual care. During the in-person segment, you will come to our facility for measurements and testing which are performed by technicians. During the virtual segment, your eye specialist will discuss your findings and make a treatment plan with you. The two segments may occur on the same or different days.
