Joanne Martin was named Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nursing Officer at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in 2014. She oversees standardization of patient care delivery, patient experience enhancement, schedule integration, evaluation of clinical program and resource utilization, and ancillary services.
Ms. Martin’s accomplishments include implementation of surgical services patient tracking system, the patient advocacy representative program, coordinated renovations throughout the Miami facility, and establishment of the sleep center as a hospital-based clinic. As Patient Safety Officer, she collaborates with faculty, staff and leadership to promote a safety-supportive culture and foster service excellence in the clinical environment.
Prior to joining Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in 2008, Ms. Martin held leadership positions at Baylor Healthcare System, Mount Sinai Medical Center, Lenox Hill Hospital and Will’s Eye Hospital. She earned her BSN at Georgetown University, MSN at University of Pennsylvania and MBA at Loyola University at Chicago. She holds certification as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and Nurse Executive Advanced (NEA-BC). Ms. Martin serves as a member of the 2016 volunteer Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
