Maria I. Serrano Brosco is executive director of the Global Center for Ophthalmic Education at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute for the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. With over 20 years of experience in medical education, Serrano Brosco is responsible for organizing all educational initiatives for the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, including Continuing Medical Education, Residency and Fellowship programs, Grand Rounds, Observerships Programs, Distinguished Lecture Series, and international education collaborations.
Bascom Palmer has a world-renowned tradition of leadership in ophthalmic education, including partnerships with ophthalmic societies and institutions around the world. As executive director at the Global Center, Serrano Brosco is dedicated to producing educational programs that stimulate innovation, sharpen clinical and research skills, and disseminate knowledge to the world-wide ophthalmic community. Serrano Brosco is a cum laude graduate of Drexel University with a bachelor of science. Prior to joining the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 2001, she served as director of Membership and External Affairs at the National Alliance for Hispanic Health in Washington DC.
