Keratoconus: Basics and New Advances, An Interactive Course and Wet Lab

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Interpret results of corneal topography or tomography for screenings of patients with keratoconus
  • Incorporate novel diagnostic techniques on the diagnosis of patients with keratoconus
  • Incorporate evidence-based decision-making when planning surgery for patients with keratoconus
  • Incorporate the new contact lenses technologies for visual rehabilitation of patients with keratoconus
  • Identify contact lens intolerance and identify best management regimen to improve patient tolerance or deciding to move to another treatment modality
  • Identify and better manage the systemic and ocular diseases associated with keratoconus
  • Appraise when and how to perform various surgical techniques to treat keratoconus
  • Prevent and recognize intraoperative complications and manage the complications from corneal surgery for patients with keratoconus
  • Identify patients with progressive keratoconus and better determine who is an appropriate candidate for crosslinking and determine appropriate timing of treatment using an evidence-based approach
