The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute General Eye Care Service provides comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosis, treatment and continued monitoring follow-up care for all types of conditions of the eye, eyelid, and vision.
The doctor will perform a complete eye evaluation to determine the cause of problems of the eye, eyelid or vision. If a diagnosis has been previously established, monitoring follow-up care is also provided. Treatment may include eyeglasses, contact lenses, medications in the form of eye drops or pills, medical procedures or surgery. If subspecialty care is required to provide the best outcome or surgical needs, the doctors within the General Eye Care Service may also refer you to other specialists within the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.
The General Eye Care Service is comprised of ophthalmologists who are medical doctors with a Doctor of Medicine degree, (M.D.), and optometrists who have a Doctor of Optometry degree, (O.D.). These providers are qualified to diagnose, treat and monitor follow-up of vision problems consistent with Florida state law. Additionally, ophthalmologists perform surgical and laser procedures for all eye conditions that may require them.
