COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This one-day course is designed for ophthalmologists, optometrists and contact lens specialists whose clinical practices include comprehensive ophthalmology, corneal diseases, refractive surgery, primary care optometry and contact lens fitting.
A distinguished panel of guest speakers and Bascom Palmer faculty will use an interdisciplinary, interactive approach as they present a variety of clinical vignettes to illustrate the new paradigm in the diagnosis, treatment and visual rehabilitation of patients with keratoconus.
Topics will include:
- The new paradigm in the surgical treatment of patients with keratoconus including corneal collagen crosslinking, intracorneal rings and keratoplasty, with illustrative video-based presentations.
- New advances in diagnostic techniques to identify patients with keratoconus and those at risk of developing post-refractive surgery corneal ectasia.
- New advances in contact lenses for the visual rehabilitation of patients with keratoconus.
A wet lab will be available for participants to gain hands-on exposure to corneal collagen crosslinking, deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty, diagnosis of keratoconus bootcamp and contact lens fitting bootcamp.
