Medical Retina Fellowship

Medical Retina Fellowship in Miami

Bascom Palmer Eye Institute offers positions under the direction of Philip J. Rosenfeld, M.D., Ph.D., for a one-year medical retina fellowship in Miami beginning in July. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with the other fellowships offered through Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.

This medical retina fellowship will concentrate on the diagnosis and treatment of non-surgical retinal diseases. Emphasis will be placed on age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, inflammatory diseases, and inherited retinal degenerations. Competency in the use and interpretation of fluorescein and ICG angiography, optical coherence tomography (OCT), ultrasonography, and visual function tests will be achieved during this year. The fellow will have a major role in weekly OCT/fluorescein conferences, vitreoretinal conferences, and grand rounds. The fellow will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing clinical research studies and initiate new clinical trials of their own.

Medical Retina Fellowship in Palm Beach Gardens

The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute offers two positions for a one-year medical retina fellowship beginning in July under the direction of Luis J. Haddock, M.D. and Jorge Fortun, M.D. at the Palm Beach Gardens campus. In addition, fellows will have the opportunity to work with rotating retina faculty that includes but is not limited to Philip J. Rosenfeld M.D., Ph,D., Zohar Yehoshua M.D., William Smiddy M.D. , Yale Fisher M.D., Thomas Albini M.D., Janet Davis M.D., and others.

This medical retina fellowship will concentrate on the diagnosis and treatment of retinal diseases. Emphasis will be placed on medical retina conditions that includes age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, vein occlusions, macular diseases, inflammatory eye diseases, and inherited retinal degenerations. Fellows will also have the opportunity to assist in the diagnosis, management and postoperative care of vitreoretinal surgical cases. Competency in the use and interpretation of fluorescein and ICG angiography, optical Coherence tomography (OCT), optical coherency tomography angiography (OCTA), ocular ultrasonography, and visual function tests will be achieved during this year. The fellow will have access to weekly OCT/fluorescein conferences, vitreoretinal conferences, and grand rounds. The fellow will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing clinical research studies and initiate new clinical trials of their own.

Salary and benefits will be commensurate with the other fellowships offered throughout Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. You must have a Florida medical license before beginning your fellowship.

Medical Retina Fellowship in Naples

Bascom Palmer Eye Institute offers one position under the direction of Jaclyn L. Kovach, MD, for a one-year medical retina fellowship beginning in July at the Naples satellite clinic.

This medical retina fellowship will concentrate on the diagnosis and treatment of non-surgical retinal diseases. Emphasis will be placed on age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, inflammatory diseases, and inherited retinal degenerations. Competency in the use and interpretation of fluorescein and ICG angiography, optical coherence tomography (OCT), and ultrasonography will be achieved during this year. The fellow will participate in OCT/fluorescein conferences, vitreoretinal conferences, and grand rounds and will have the opportunity to attend clinics at the Miami location. The fellow will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing clinical research studies and initiate new clinical trials of their own.

Salary and benefits will be commensurate with the other fellowships offered through Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.

Please note: You must have an unrestricted, full Florida State Medical License before beginning your fellowship. You must have passed all 3 parts of the USMLE for a Florida License and have spent 2 years in the United States under direct physician supervision.
