Society for Encouraging Endowment

The Society for Encouraging Endowment (SEE) society recognizes those individuals who ensure Bascom Palmer Eye Institute's legacy by making the Institute a beneficiary of their estate or financial plans. Please let us know if you have included Bascom Palmer in your estate plans so we may recognize your investment in the future.

Heritage Society

As a member of the Heritage Society, you can help the University of Miami meet the challenges of tomorrow and leave a legacy for future generations. The Heritage Society connects individuals with the University, and establishes a meaningful and enduring relationship with donors and their families.

 

To confirm your planned gift, please provide a copy of the appropriate pages or sections of a Will, Trust, or other Estate planning document or please sign our Statement of Support, a non-binding letter confirming you intent to make a planned gift to Bascom Palmer and the University of Miami.

Ways to Give

Bequest

You may designate Bascom Palmer as a beneficiary of your will, trust, or beneficiary designation form.

Beneficiary Designation Gifts

You can designate us as a beneficiary of a retirement, investment, or bank account or of your life insurance policy.

Qualified Charitable Distribution (Charitable IRA Rollover)

If you are 72 or older, you can make a tax-free gift to Bascom Palmer directly from your IRA.

Donor-Advised Funds

You can fund a DAF grant and make charitable gift recommendations during your lifetime. When you pass away, your children can carry on your legacy of giving. The University of Miami now has its own DAF.

Charitable Gift Annuity

You can transfer your cash or appreciated property to Bascom Palmer in exchange for our promise to pay you fixed payments (with rates based on your age) for the rest of your life.

Charitable Remainder Unitrust

You can transfer your cash or appreciated property to fund a charitable remainder unitrust. The trust sells your property tax-free and provides you with income for life or for a term of years.

Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust

You can transfer your cash or appreciated property to fund a charitable remainder annuity trust. The trust sells your property tax-free and provides you with fixed income for life or for a term of years.

Charitable Lead Trust

You can fund a trust and then disburse that income to Bascom Palmer annually for a term of years. You or your family receives the trust remainder at substantial tax savings.

Retained Life Estate

You can give your personal residence, vacation home or farm to Bascom Palmer but retain the right to use the property during your lifetime.

Society Recognition

You can become a member of the Society of Encouraging Endowment (SEE) Society and/or Heritage Society when you include the University of Miami in your estate plans or through a planned gift.
