The Florida Society of Clinical Oncology (FLASCO) presented a webinar to promote awareness and education regarding cancer survivorship care. The webinar was conducted twice in March 2021. Jessica MacIntyre, MSN, APRN, NP-C, AOCNP, Executive Director, Clinical Operations at UHealth was one of the meeting organizers and collaborated with healthcare professionals from across the state, including from Mayo Clinic, Moffit Cancer Center, and the University of Miami. “It was wonderful to collaborate with so many experts from different specialties and institutions and share best practices. We were all passionate about supporting our patients and their cancer survivorship experience and improve awareness,” MacIntyre said.

Cancer survivors often face physical, emotional, psychosocial, and financial challenges due to their cancer diagnosis and treatment. Therefore, medical and public health professionals must prepare survivors for the possible long-term and late effects of cancer and its treatment effects on their physical and psychosocial well-being. During the three-and-a-half-hour webinar, a panel of experts discussed implementing a collaborative survivorship care strategy and presented the pivotal issues cancer survivors encounter.
