Physicians travel from across the globe to train through our Urology Robotic Program, and our team performs more robotic urologic procedures than any other facility in South Florida. The University of Miami Health System was the first academic medical center in the world to acquire the da Vinci Xi robotic surgical system and has since completed more than 20,000 robotic surgeries, procedures that offer patients less pain, less scarring, and a faster recovery. DSUI has also completed more than 200 cases using robotic, high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) for prostate cancer treatment.
Our commitment goes beyond the operating room: DSUI founding director Dipen J. Parekh, M.D., led the landmark RAZOR trial, published in The Lancet, the first multicenter study to demonstrate that robotic surgery achieves outcomes comparable to open surgery without compromising cancer care.
