Services

Primary Care Services
UHealth’s primary care providers help coordinate patient care throughout the UHealth System. Within a PCP’s practice, you have the ability to access a wide spectrum of health services, including preventive care, such as cancer screenings; chronic care for conditions like asthma, hypertension, and diabetes; and acute care for symptoms like cough, stomach pain, and high fever.

Specialties

Clinical Genetic Testing and Counseling for Adults, Infants and Children
Our board-certified clinical geneticist uses comprehensive testing to identify the exact cause of many health conditions such as autism, birth defects, deafness, Alzheimer's disease, hereditary cancer and more.

Neurological Surgery
Our neurosurgery program is nationally ranked among the best by U.S. News & World Report and our experienced, board-certified neurosurgeons consistently pioneer new neurosurgical treatments. Our neurosurgeons offer unique surgeries not found elsewhere in the region to treat your injuries and conditions. Consultations for complex and minimally invasive spine surgery, peripheral nerve surgery, neuro-trauma solutions as well as complex spinal pathologies with the use of the latest technology and techniques to maximize patient outcomes.

Pediatric Cardiology and Fetal Echocardiography
Whether your child was born with a heart condition or has developed one, we understand it can be difficult for you and your family. We treat children of all ages, from newborns to teens. Our board-certified pediatric cardiologists work with pediatric surgeons, vascular specialists, pediatric nurses, and other pediatric health care providers to give your child comprehensive care. We offer fetal echocardiography, prenatal and fetal cardiology, sports clearances, care for adults and pregnant women with congenital heart disease.

Pediatric Diagnostic Tests

  • EKG
  • EEG
  • Fetal echograph
  • Laboratory specimen collection

Pediatric Endocrinology
If your child was born with or has developed an endocrine condition, you want care from a team you can trust. At University of Miami Health System, your child receives top-notch care delivered by experienced pediatric endocrinologists. Pediatric endocrinologists specialize in caring for children who have conditions that affect their hormones and growth including diabetes, congenital thyroid, adrenal and pituitary disorders, sex differentiation disorders, growth problems, pubertal development, calcium metabolism, glucose metabolism, and metabolic syndrome.

Pediatric Gastroenterology
If your child has a health problem that affects their digestive (gastroenterology), liver (hepatology), or nutritional health, you want care from someone who’s experienced in treating children with these conditions. Children with digestive, liver, and nutritional problems are often treated differently than adults with those same conditions, so it’s important to work with a knowledgeable pediatric team.

Pediatric General Surgery
Children may need surgery for a variety of reasons, to remove a ruptured appendix, to repair a birth defect, or to help them grow up strong. When your child needs surgery, you want a team of experts you can trust. At the University of Miami Health System, our experienced board-certified pediatric surgeons offer personalized care for children of all ages, from newborns to teens and perform more than 2,000 surgeries a year including general pediatric surgical procedures, minimally invasive and robotic assisted surgeries, needlescopic surgeries and single incision laparoscopic surgeries.

Pediatric Nephrology
Our board-certified pediatric nephrologists treat and manage all kidney conditions in children — from chronic kidney disease to acute (occurring suddenly) injury or illness. We use innovative treatments to heal and preserve kidney function, and we’re recognized for our high success rates in kidney transplant. We offer care for pediatric dialysis, mineral bone disease in chronic kidney disease, anemia, cardiomyopathy complications of chronic kidney disease, acute renal failure, glomerulonephritis and tubulointerstitial disease

Pediatric Neurological Disorders Testing
Neurological disorders affect the brain, spinal cord, and nerves that connect them (nervous system). Many neurological conditions are present at birth (congenital) and require expert, lifelong care. Diagnosis for a neurological condition is complex, so it’s important to work with an experienced pediatric neurologist. Diagnostic tests are available for epilepsy, neurophysiology, Autism Spectrum Disorder-Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and other neuro-pediatric concerns.
