What’s the difference between a gynecologist and a urogynecologist?
As a woman, it's crucial to prioritize your health and visit medical professionals specializing in women's medical needs. Two common specialists in this field are gynecologists and urogynecologists, but what's the difference?
Gynecologists have a broad focus on the female reproductive system, including the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, cervix, and vagina. They are trained to diagnose and treat a wide range of gynecologic conditions, such as menstrual disorders, STIs, and menopause-related concerns. They also typically perform routine pelvic exams and Pap smears.
