Dr. Wangpaichitr’s group is investigating the role of metabolic reprogramming in platinum-resistant lung cancer. They demonstrated that cisplatin or carboplatin resistant (CR) lung cancer cells possess higher levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) when compared to parental cell counterparts leading to the switch in metabolism from glycolytic to oxidative metabolism.
