UHealth celebrated National Patient Safety Awareness Week with a series of engaging initiatives designed to strengthen our culture of safety and reinforce the shared responsibility of protecting patients, staff, and the community.
In collaboration with the Office of Risk Management, nurses across the health system participated in Patient Safety Fairs, presenting on key safety priorities, such as falls and infection prevention, hand hygiene compliance, and medication safety. These events engaged both staff and patients alike, reflecting our shared commitment to patient safety, education, and continuous improvement.
Team members also participated in the return of the highly interactive Room of Errors, featuring simulated clinical environments designed to highlight potential safety risks. Participants identified safety hazards and reinforced best practices in real time. This year, UHealth expanded the initiative to include a 360-degree virtual simulation, increasing accessibility and participation for colleagues enterprisewide.
During this year’s event, nursing staff were recognized with the inaugural Patient Safety Hero Awards, honoring their leadership and unwavering commitment to patient safety. Nursing honorees included:
