Conditions like sinus infections  and nasal disorders plague lot of people, many of whom suffer from chronic (ongoing) nasal conditions. The ear, nose, and throat (ENT) experts at University of Miami Health are here to help you breathe easier with comprehensive treatment for a range of nasal disorders, including:

Tests

Allergy Testing
Your ENT specialist may order an allergy skin test to help determine the allergen that is causing your symptoms. If the results of the skin test are inconclusive or if more information is needed, you may undergo a blood test.

Physical Exam
Your doctor will conduct a thorough physical examination, and collect a health history to thoroughly understand your nasal disorder.

Imaging Tests
If your ENT doctor cannot make a diagnosis with the above tests, he or she may order a computed tomography (CT) scan or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of your head, including your sinuses, to check for structural abnormalities, such as a tumor, abscess, or fracture.

Treatments

Medications
There are both over-the-counter and prescription medications available to help ease the symptoms of allergies. These include steroids, antihistamines, and anti-inflammatory medications.

Nasal Spray
Your ENT doctor may recommend that you regularly use a nasal spray to help clear out your nasal passage.

Lifestyle Modification
If possible, you should try to avoid the allergen that triggers your body’s immune system to react and cause the allergy symptoms.
