In April 2025, the University of Miami received notification regarding a potential unauthorized disclosure of patient health information.
Following an internal review, the University determined that limited patient health information was improperly obtained by an unauthorized third party. The information included first and last names, dates of birth, and insurance details. No financial information, Social Security numbers, or credit data were compromised as part of this incident.
In May 2025, the University of Miami notified individuals whose personal health data was impacted by the incident.
The University of Miami routinely evaluates both physical and electronic security measures to ensure the protection of personal information and will continue to implement appropriate safeguards. The University is actively collaborating with law enforcement regarding this matter.
