Support the heart of our health system
Every day, UHealth nurses extend their impact far beyond the bedside, leading in research, education, and clinical excellence to advance our mission. Their work transforms the patient experience, improves outcomes, and defines the future of nursing.
Donate TodayOver the past year, we have made meaningful progress in strengthening our Academic Practice Partnership through targeted initiatives focused on faculty engagement, education, and professional development.
A key priority has been expanding adjunct faculty involvement within the healthcare setting and the School of Nursing and Health Studies. Efforts are underway to increase both the number of adjunct faculty and their contributions through guest lectures, course instruction, and mentorship. Recruitment materials have been distributed to prospective candidates, and faculty participation is already growing, including planned teaching contributions in research and evidence-based practice.
We also supported professional development through educational programming, including a Human Trafficking Awareness certification event that achieved strong attendance. Ongoing efforts are focused on expanding access to continuing education through online offerings.
To strengthen academic-clinical integration, we are advancing the student registered nurse anesthetist pathway and continuing development of the nurse scientist role, with onboarding progress and alignment of outcome metrics in collaboration with academic partners.
“The close alignment among our clinicians, academic partners, and health system is foundational to our shared progress. By strengthening the bridge between academia and practice, we are anticipating what lies ahead across education and training, research, and advocacy, shaping the future of nursing and patient care.”
Engagement with academic institutions remains a priority. We are increasing participation in school events, expanding affiliated faculty involvement, and supporting initiatives such as the Center of Clinical Excellence outreach at the University of Miami during Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month.
Together, these strategies reflect our ongoing commitment to building a robust, collaborative academic-practice environment that supports workforce development, education, and clinical innovation.
