Patient- and Family-Centered Care

As patients and family members, you are at the center of your health care. We want to work with you to make sure that nothing is done to or for you without including you. The way we do this is through our Patient- and Family-Centered Care Program.

Interested in joining our Patient- and Family-Centered Care Program?

The first step is to become an E-Advisor. E-Advisors are sent information that lets them know about how to become a Patient and Family Advisor and join new or active Patient and Family Advisory Councils. These are groups of patients and family volunteers who serve with UMiami Health System faculty and staff to help to improve how care for:

  • patients with certain health conditions
  • patients at locations across the health system
  • all patients treated at UHealth

Based on the survey answers, E-Advisors will be invited to become a member of a Patient and Family Advisory Council. A bulletin board listing all councils looking for members is available to E-Advisors.

E-Advisors are also sent surveys asking their opinion about how things are done at UHealth. E-Advisors can choose if they want to complete the survey, and their answers will be confidential.
