Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), also called sexually transmitted infections (STIs), like HIV, chlamydia, syphilis, and gonorrhea affect sexually active people of all ages and walks of life. That’s why it’s essential to know how to prevent infection, where to get tested, and where to go if you need treatment.

At the University of Miami Division of Infectious Diseases, we make it easier to get the guidance and care you need. You can access a wide range of services, from education and preventive services to treatment, community outreach, research, and more.

Complete care for sexual health

We offer comprehensive wellness services for people of all ages, including:

  • STI and HIV testing
    Get free, confidential, same-day testing for a wide range of STIs with fast results – including immediate results for rapid HIV tests.
  • PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis)
    If you’re HIV-negative and want to protect yourself from infection, this prescription medicine can help prevent HIV.
  • PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis)
    If you’ve been exposed to HIV within the last three days and are worried about infection, this medicine can stop HIV from developing.
  • Gender-affirming services
    Our GenWell Program offers personalized, holistic care for transgender people to enhance mental and physical well-being. We offer personal consultations with surgeons and other specialists, gender wellness counseling, prescriptions for feminizing and masculinizing hormones and HIV prevention, and more.
