Inpatient Units

Nurses provide advanced, supportive care in areas such as: 

Orthopedics - Assisting patients recover from orthopedic surgeries and trauma. These patients receive care designed to help them get back on their feet and rebuild their strength so they can return home quickly and continue healing.

Oncology - Nursing teams provide compassionate care for patients in active treatment. Patients may also be receiving palliative care to help improve their quality of life.

Neurology - For patients recovering from neurological events, such as stroke or traumatic brain injury nurses serve on multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care plans 

Pediatric Care

University of Miami Hospital and Clinics offers specialized inpatient and outpatient expert care for children of all ages. With age-appropriate treatment plans and support, nurses guide families in their time of need.

Surgical Services 

The Surgical Services Department at the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics provides a full array services in areas including in the pre-op clinic, holding area, operating room, and post-anesthesia care unit (PACU). Our Surgical Services Department follows the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) and American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) standards as guidelines for nursing care and staffing as appropriate. Nursing teams are experienced in the latest minimally invasive and robotic procedures as well as open and complex surgeries to best support physicians and patients.

Critical Care

Nurses offer care for patients and families facing life-threatening illness or injury. As an integral member of expert teams, nurses assist in addressing complex medical needs.

Emergency and Ambulatory Services

Nurses are called upon to deliver immediate and deliberate care when it is needed most. Educated and trained nurses are vital in providing expert triage and remaining calm in stressful situations.

Outpatient Units

Includes primary care clinics, rehabilitation centers, and specialty centers. Care is centered on prevention and early detection of disease, treatment for acute conditions, management of chronic ailments with additional focus on educational, nutritional, psychological, emotional, and spiritual counseling
