UHealth High School Student Research Trainee Program
UHealth’s high school student summer program begins 6/16/2026 and ends 8/7/2026, with limited spaces available.
Application deadline: 4/30/2026
The ideal student for this role has excellent interpersonal skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills. They should demonstrate compassion for patient needs and be detail-oriented, adaptable, and flexible. They should be able to follow directions, complete the application process, onboarding, and work independently.
Student Training Activities May Include
- Data collection and analysis
- Experimentation in labs
- Helping PIs with various assignments
- Learning new software
- Participation in research meetings
Requirements and Commitment
- Students must be at least 16 years of age to apply
- Maximum 20 hours a week training
- Students must train in pairs of two or more
- Identify and secure the department and supervisor for your desired research trainee position. Prior sponsorship confirmation is required before applying.

- Meet all occupational health requirements, including proof of required immunizations, vaccinations, and recent TB Test (within 12 months)
- Complete a security background check and drug screening
- Complete and pass online training modules
- Attend mandatory virtual UHealth Care Orientation held on the first Wednesday of each month.
