Dr. Carcioppolo's research involves the development and assessment of persuasive messaging interventions to increase cancer prevention and screening behaviors. Much of his work in cancer prevention is on UV exposure, including both indoor and outdoor tanning behavior. As a behavioral scientist, he is particularly interested in nontraditional media including entertainment education and game-based interventions.
