Who Is a Candidate?
All pregnant women should receive prenatal (before birth) care and testing. These services typically begin around week 10 of the pregnancy.
What to Expect
Throughout your pregnancy, you will meet with your physician many times to make sure that you and the baby are healthy. You will likely see your physician once a month during your first two trimesters. During your third trimester, you may see your physician every two weeks or every week depending on your needs.
You may have blood drawn for tests and undergo ultrasound testing to examine the baby. If you are at risk for certain genetic conditions, your doctor may recommend additional tests.
During labor and delivery, a team of physicians and nurses will monitor you and your child’s health, and follow your birth plan. You can choose to deliver without pain medicines or select an epidural medicine injection.
Our physicians also perform cesarean sections (C-sections). During these surgical procedures, your obstetrician will make an incision in your abdomen and uterus to remove the baby from your womb. C-sections may be used if vaginal delivery will be dangerous to a mother or a baby’s health.
