Part of Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, our Brain Tumor Initiative was founded in 2011 by a core group of 10 specialists who wanted to make a difference in brain tumor treatment. Since then, we have grown to become recognized internationally as a center of excellence. Our treatment team has grown to about 50 specialists today, which include:
- Radiation oncologists
- Science researchers
Our commitment to discovering and implementing the latest techniques in brain tumor treatment has remained the same over the years. Today, however, we have increased our impact in our field through:
- Earlier discharges
- Greater number of clinical trials
- Greater translational research
- Improved outcomes
- Increased grant funding
- More specialists on our team
- Quintupled patient volume
Forging the Future of Brain Tumor Treatment
The team at the Brain Tumor Initiative has made major contributions to brain research and literature with the publication of numerous national-level articles, presentations at conferences and professional association meetings, and holding committee leadership positions at the national and international levels. Yet, there is so much more advancement to be made and so little we truly understand in the field of brain tumors. The potential for contributions as researchers and physicians in our field is tremendous, and we are excited to continue leading the way in developing innovative and emerging treatment options for our patients.
