Research

Dr. Duthely’s mCARES Lab is particularly interested in understanding the risk and protective factors of advancing disease. Specifically, mCARES addresses the social determinants of risk and personal-level approaches, such as building strengths and resiliency through mind-body approaches—placing the patient as the focus and employing a tech-equity approach to mHealth/eHealth. mCARES (Mobile Communication for Adherence Reminders Education and Support) takes a multi-lingual / multi-cultural approach to improving health outcomes for minoritized populations, living in the U.S.

The mCARES Lab active investigations include a NIDA-funded, hybrid effectiveness/implementation of a patient navigator assisted intervention, a CFAR Pilot of ORCHID (Miami), which addresses ano-genital HPV and stress Biomarkers; and, a UCSF-funded proof of concept study—mCARES-H, which explores novel biomarkers to measure medication adherence.
