The laboratory of Dr. Martin A. Rivas is a newly established group at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Postdoctoral Associate
We are looking for a motivated postdoctoral associate to join our group. The postdoctoral associate will work in a multi-disciplinary research team with flexibility to develop their own research directions. Ideal candidates for this position should have experience with mouse models of cancer and/or immunology and/or expertise in molecular biology techniques. We are also happy to train highly motivated individuals which are results orientated, ambitious, and passionate about science.
Postdoctoral associates are responsible for leading the effort of one or several research projects in the lab, including literature review, proposing research hypothesis, planning and conducting experiments with minimal supervision. The candidate should have the ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems, and to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions. Postdoctoral researchers are expected to present their data in different ways (lab meetings, international conferences, peer-reviewed manuscripts) and to apply to grants a fellowship for competitive funding. Teamwork capacity and interest in mentoring junior members of the lab is expected.
Minimal Qualifications
- Ph.D. in molecular biology, cancer biology, immunology, or equivalent
- Proven expertise with mouse experimentation, tissue culture and molecular biology (RNA/DNA extraction, Western Blot)
- Good track record publishing peer-review manuscripts
- Experience with general biochemical and molecular biology methodologies.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of flow cytometry applications.
- Experience with genome editing techniques, NGS methodologies, and bioinformatic skills.
