We’re not just trying to save lives – we’re working to improve lives. At the Brain Tumor Initiative, we go beyond the standard of care to deliver personalized treatment and the highest level of care for all types of brain tumors. Our team is active in several current research studies and has been awarded funding from prestigious national organizations, including the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Elsa U. Pardee Foundation. Research completed at the Brain Tumor Initiative provides more treatment options for our current patients and leads the way in developing innovative treatments for the future.
Our multidisciplinary team of more than 100 specialists provides individualized diagnostic and treatment options. For example, we use awake craniotomies for complex tumors to preserve speech, language, and motor function using intra-operative cortical mapping — this allows us to determine the function of each area of the brain before it’s surgically removed. Only a handful of the top neurosurgeons in the United States perform this procedure.
Our comprehensive Brain Tumor Institute offers each patient an opportunity to participate in our tissue bank and tumor registry. This program benefits both our current and future patients by expanding our understanding of brain tumors, refining and finding new treatments, providing hope, and improving quality of life.
