Research Focus
My research program bridges the boundaries that have traditionally divided behavioral and biomedical research to optimize the health of marginalized, underserved populations. At the University of Miami, my team, Innovative Collaboratory for Advancing Research with the Underserved and Stigmatized (ICARUS), will advance my research program targeting psychiatric factors relevant to HIV/AIDS and cancer prevention. My clinical research to date has focused extensively on developing and testing novel approaches to boost the defectiveness of contingency management (CM) to optimize HIV/AIDS prevention with people who use stimulants such as methamphetamine. My team also focuses extensively on examining novel bio-behavioral pathways that explain poorer health outcomes HIV-positive persons who use stimulants.
