Hansel E. Tookes, III, M.D., M.P.H
- Assistant Professor
- Director, IDEA Exchange
Dr. Tookes' research interests include behavioral interventions and innovative approaches to HIV prevention. His goal is to continue to conduct translational research that will effect changes in health policy to improve the health of the community. While syringe exchange is an evidence-based approach to HIV prevention, he hopes to study other innovative methods of prevention in this high-risk population, such as PrEP, medication-assisted treatment for HIV seropositive opioid use dependent individuals, and early interventions for the treatment of hepatitis C.
