Playing Guitar During Brain Tumor Surgery
Sylvester’s neurosurgical team used Christian Nolen’s guitar-playing skills to test and protect his dexterity while removing as much tumor as possible.
Christian Nolen usually plays guitar on stage. But in December of 2023, the professional guitarist played songs from the alt-metal band Deftones while a neurosurgical team at Sylvester worked to remove a tumor from his brain.
