Who we are

The Pediatric Psychology Clinic at the Mailman Center for Child Development provides behavioral evaluations and outpatient therapy services for children and adolescents in a confidential, family-centered environment. Clinics are held every Monday and Tuesday, 1-6 pm.

What we do

In our Tuesday afternoon clinic we provide evidence-based treatment to address a series of behavioral, social, and emotional needs. This includes, but is not limited to, anxiety and mood disorders including depression, tantrums and oppositional behavior, management of ADHD symptoms, social skills, sleep problems, trauma, coping and adjustment, family conflict, and parent-child relational problems.

In our Monday afternoon clinic we also provide clinical services for behavioral and adjustment issues related to physical health conditions including toileting difficulties (enuresis, encopresis), pain (recurrent abdominal pain, migraine or tension headache), chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, obesity, feeding disorders, GI disorders (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis), spina bifida, as well as specific issues related to medical treatment such as pill swallowing difficulties. Psychological factors affecting physical conditions including adjustment and medical regimen adherence are addressed.

Upon evaluation and diagnosis, care is provided by a team including psychology interns and advanced clinical psychology graduate students, supervised by licensed Faculty Clinical Pediatric Psychologists. The team is dedicated to using the most current, evidenced-based therapies including:

  • Behavioral parent training
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety and depression
  • Social problem-solving skills training
  • Trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral therapy
