Greeter Patient Liaison - Plantation

As a University of Miami Health System greeter/patient liaison at Plantation, you’ll provide exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff members by rounding hallways and lobbies throughout the clinic to assist as needed.

You’ll also provide the following services to patients and their families:

  • Accompanying patients and their families to various hospital and clinic locations
  • Assisting with patient comfort, including retrieving snacks, water, juice, or blanket
  • Giving accurate information and directions to patients, visitors, and family members using direction sheets and/or other resources (staff members, info desks, or phone calls)
  • Socializing with patients during their infusions
  • Transporting patients to and from test sites, physician’s offices, and lobbies via wheelchair

You’ll also restock supplies in the clinic, as needed, and clean chairs and rooms after each patient visit. You may provide administrative support, as needed, for operations or special projects.

UHealth staff members may occasionally ask you to complete other miscellaneous tasks, which could include:

  • Obtaining blankets, pillows, and other items
  • Offering diversionary activities to patients
  • Retrieving supplies
  • Retrieving wheelchairs

The ideal person for this role has excellent interpersonal and communication skills and compassion for patient needs. Volunteers in this role should be able to learn to navigate the hospital independently and to take directions from staff members.

You must be able to assist patients using good body mechanics. Volunteers must commit to one three-hour shift per week.
