Membership Policy and Fitness Floor Rules

Membership Policy

  • All memberships, including locker rental if applicable, are open-ended.
  • Membership will remain in active status until member visits the membership office to sign the appropriate paperwork to cancel.
  • All cancellation forms must be submitted by the close of business on the last business day of the month in order to cancel for the subsequent month.
  • Cancellations cannot be taken over the phone or by email.
  • Account balances must be paid in full before cancellations will take effect.
  • Failure to use the facilities will not relieve members of their obligation to pay for membership and/or locker dues each month.
  • Membership and locker dues are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Fitness Floor Rules

  • The fitness floor operates on an “exercise at your own risk” policy.
  • No one under the age of 16 is permitted in fitness areas.
  • No bags or purses allowed on the fitness floor.
  • Appropriate exercise attire and athletic shoes are required on the fitness floor.
  • Open toe-shoes, denim, street clothing, and mesh, string or cut-off tank tops, and scrubs, are prohibited.
  • Re-rack your weights after each use.
  • Weight collars are required for all free weights.
  • Slamming, dropping or bouncing of weights is prohibited.
  • Follow fitness floor etiquette. Do not loiter on the equipment while resting.
  • Always allow others to work in when performing multiple sets.
  • Dumbbells are not allowed while using cardio machines.
  • No cell phone usage while on cardio machines, phones should only be used in case of emergency.
  • Use of chalk is prohibited.
  • Members are responsible for wiping down machines after use.
  • Use of equipment other than for its designed function is prohibited.
  • Equipment provided in classrooms should remain in designated area.
  • No audio devices without headphones.
  • Videotaping and photography, including camera phones, are unauthorized in the UHealth Fitness & Wellness Center without prior approval from Management.
  • Food is not permitted; non-glass sealable containers are permitted for beverages.
  • Only personal trainers employed by UHealth Fitness and Wellness Center may provide personal training services. Unauthorized personal training from others may result in dismissal from the facility and loss of membership.
  • Failure to adhere to these policies or policy enforcement by staff may result in dismissal from the fitness floor and facility.
