Clinical Ladder

UHealth offers professional development tools to assist nurses in advancing their careers. The Clinical Ladder program encourages the opportunity to take on new responsibilities, showcase initiative and explore new and innovative skill sets. This is a key process in acknowledging and rewarding the dedication of our clinical nurses.

Titan ‘Canes Nurse Residency Program

Our nurse residency program, known as Titan ‘Canes, is a comprehensive, one-year program that transitions the novice nurse to the role of an advanced beginner in a collaborative learning environment. These nurses are hired to participate in a 14-to-26-week orientation based on their specialty area, which includes evidence-based lectures, online learning modules, simulation experiences and an individualized preceptorship. They are also mentored by supportive staff, leaders and academic experts throughout the year.

One-Day Preceptor Course

Nurses

This one-day workshop prepares our nurses to become a preceptor for novice and experienced nurses at UHealth. The day includes information and role playing on adult learning theory, multi-generational considerations, conflict management and team dynamics. The preceptor is coached on their ability to teach and mentor nurses related to a variety of situations. Participants in this program express an interest in developing, coaching, mentoring and leadership skills. Preceptors are reimbursed for their commitment and willingness to assist fellow colleagues become effective nurses.

Mentorship Program for Nurses and Advanced Practice Providers

At UHealth, we understand the importance of ongoing support and professional development for our nursing team. We have established a mentorship program, available to nursing staff at all levels, to provide guidance, support and growth opportunities. We believe that fostering a culture of mentorship not only enhances individual growth but also strengthens our nursing practice.

Unlimited Online Continuing Education Courses

Nurses

More than 1,500 accredited continuing education courses are available so that UHealth nurses can stay current on the latest evidence-based learning and clinical practices, as well as meet licensure and certification requirements.

Covered Fees for Continuing Education Testing

UHealth assists with making certification preparation and testing more affordable and accessible to our nurses looking to expand their scope of work into specialty areas.

Eligible nurses can register for specialty certification review courses and get reimbursed for the certification examination fee upon successful completion.
