Welcome to UHealth Spiritual Care Services
UHealth recognizes that healing involves more than just the body and includes the mind and spirit. Our Spiritual Care Services are committed to offering compassionate support to patients, families, and staff of all faiths and backgrounds during times of illness, uncertainty, and transition.
Who We Are
UHealth understands that facing a health crisis can lead to questions about beliefs, purpose, and the meaning of life itself. Many patients and their families find spirituality to be a source of strength, hope, meaning, and unity as they cope with a health diagnosis, its treatment, and its impact on their lives.
We provide compassionate, inclusive spiritual support that honors the diverse beliefs and traditions of those we serve. We walk alongside individuals and families, offering presence, prayer, and guidance in moments of need.
Our chaplains are here for you regardless of religious affiliation or beliefs, to listen and provide support or guidance for questions related to meaning, identity, purpose, value, or self-worth.

No One Dies Alone (NODA)
No One Dies Alone (NODA) is a compassionate program designed to support UHealth System patients whose death is expected within 24 to 72 hours and who may otherwise be alone during their final moments. The program ensures that no patient faces the end of life without human presence, dignity, and comfort.
Through NODA, a trained volunteer companion provides bedside presence, reassurance, and compassionate support during a patient’s final stages of life. Companions offer quiet companionship and emotional support, honoring each patient’s dignity.
NODA volunteers do not provide services when family members or loved ones are present and do not replace private caregivers or protective care staff.
How NODA Works
- The clinical care team identifies patients approaching the end of life who have no family or friends available.
- Once activated, the program strives to provide a volunteer companion at the bedside 24 hours a day.
- Clinical staff may seek guidance if there is uncertainty regarding referral criteria.
