Protect Your Health Before You Travel

Planning an international trip? Protect yourself from travel-related diseases with convenient immunization services at UHealth Clinic at Walgreens. Our experienced providers offer key travel vaccines at locations across South Florida, with same-day and evening appointments available.

Vaccine prices may vary. Schedule your appointment in advance to ensure timely protection before travel.

  • Japanese encephalitis
  • Rabies
  • Typhoid vaccine

Japanese Encephalitis Vaccine

Japanese encephalitis is a viral infection spread through mosquito bites. While most cases are mild, the virus can cause severe brain inflammation (encephalitis), seizures, coma, permanent disability, or death.

Who should get vaccinated?

  • Travelers visiting rural areas of Asia for extended periods
  • Those spending significant time outdoors in affected regions

Our services include:

  • Consultation to determine if the vaccine is needed for your trip
  • Two-dose vaccine series spaced four weeks apart
  • Guidance on mosquito bite prevention

The final dose must be received at least one week before travel. Schedule your first dose at least one month before departure.

Polio Vaccine

Polio is a highly contagious disease spread through contaminated food, water, or close contact with an infected person. It can lead to paralysis and life-threatening complications.

Who should get a booster?

  • Adults who received polio vaccines as children but are traveling to high-risk countries
  • Unvaccinated travelers needing full immunization

How we help:

  • Inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) given as an injection
  • Vaccine guidance based on your travel itinerary
  • Immunization recommendations for young children traveling abroad

Rabies Vaccine

Rabies is a deadly virus transmitted through the saliva of infected animals, usually via bites or scratches. Travelers may be at risk if visiting areas with limited access to medical care.

Who should get vaccinated?

  • Travelers going to countries with high rabies risk
  • Those who may have close contact with wild or farm animals or stray dogs
  • People visiting remote locations where medical care is limited

We offer:

  • Rabies vaccination for pre-exposure protection
  • Expert travel health advice on avoiding rabies risks
  • Same-day appointments for last-minute travel needs

Typhoid Vaccine

Typhoid fever is a bacterial infection spread through contaminated food and water, common in parts of South Asia, Africa, and Latin America. It causes fever, stomach pain, and weakness and can be life-threatening if untreated.

Vaccine options:

  • Oral Typhoid Vaccine: Suitable for individuals six and older; taken in four doses over eight days, finishing at least a week before travel.
  • Injectable Typhoid Vaccine: Available for individuals two and older; requires a single dose at least two weeks before travel.

We provide:

  • Personalized recommendations based on your travel destination
  • Booster guidance if your last vaccination was more than a few years ago
  • Additional safety tips for food and water precautions while traveling

Make sure you make your appointment two or more weeks before you plan to travel to ensure the vaccine has enough time to take effect.
